VOLUNTEER WITH US

Our incredible volunteers support us with the delivery of our education programmes for young people, covering themes on wildlife, conservation, climate justice, and climate innovation.

WHY VOLUNTEER?

We provide all our volunteers with flexible and fun opportunities to engage in environmental conservation through the education of young people.

We create a win-win situation – committed volunteers bring added value to young people with their knowledge, experience and passion. In turn volunteers have a powerful, direct opportunity to engage with and influence young people across the UK.

Greater understanding

Learn more about wildlife conservation issues, the environment and have the opportunity to transfer your knowledge in a meaningful way

Direct experience

Work directly with young people in schools and build your leadership and presenting skills

Be part of our Community

Become part of a fantastic community of like-minded people who want to help make a difference for the next generation

All of our workshop facilitators go through training to learn the skills required to deliver a fantastic session for young people. We deliver workshops both in-person in schools, and online over Zoom.

Each workshop has been prepared in advance and includes interactive educational content and a mixture of short talks and fun activities. Our volunteers work in smalls team of 1-3 people to deliver short sessions to school classes or youth groups.

ABOUT VOLUNTEERING.

Time commitment

DBS Check

Skills and Experience

Our roles are flexible and designed to fit around busy life schedules. Ideally we are looking for a commitment of around 2-3 hours each month. Most of our roles can be carried out remotely, although fluency in English is essential.

All our volunteers delivering school workshops are required to be a UK resident and to complete an enhanced DBS check (England & Wales) AccessNI (Northern Ireland) or join the PVG scheme (Scotland). This is free of charge and we’ll support you to complete this process.

We are looking for people who are passionate about the environment and believe that educating young people about conservation and wildlife is extremely valuable. You don’t need to be an expert on animal welfare, conservation or the environment – we’ll provide all the training, materials, and resources that they’ll need. However do you need to feel confident at presenting. If you’d like to get involved with our work we’d love to hear from you!

We have collated the questions that our volunteers have asked us over the years, about volunteering with VFF, and have answered them in our Volunteer FAQs.

“I absolutely love volunteering for VFF. The workshops are well organised, fun, interactive and educational. But, the most rewarding part for me is listening to the amazing feedback from the children and teachers, realising that you have made a positive impact and that maybe, in some small way, you have helped towards creating a better future for our planet

and it’s inhabitants.”
